Jules Verne was a prolific writer and dreamer
before his time. Made famous by his
Voyages Extraordinaires, combining a trademark style of invention, pedantry, adventure and brotherhood, the "Father of science fiction" continues to be one of the most translated and widely-read writers of all time.

Verne's legacy lasts to this day. He holds a spot in popular culture shared by few, while his works are part of
a running commercial film franchise. To the left is a photograph of a page from the second
Astrobiology graphic history published by NASA, in which a leading scientist identifies Jules Verne as one of his inspirations. This scientist is not alone.
